Arsenal keeps up the pressure on Chelsea after emerging victorious over Everton in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

With the last couple of league games to go, Arsenal is sitting behind Chelsea by just one point, hoping to see the reigning League Champions slip up. Beth Mead and Jordan Nobbs scored their 50th goal in the WSL, while the former also broke Karen Carney’s record of the most assists in the WSL while setting up Jordan Nobbs with her 50th.

The game against Everton had a pretty slow start, with Arsenal unable to finish their chances. This continued until the 29th minute when Stina Blackstenius put the ball in the back of the net. It was unfortunately ruled out for offside giving the hosts some relief. Things, however, turned once again when Caitlin Foord accurately got the ball in the back of the net from a Leah Williamson long pass just before the first half. In the second half, Beth Mead doubled the lead only to have Jordan Nobbs add a third. Both these players scored their 50-goal landmark in the Barclays WSL.

Everton have won only five league matches this season and are 10th.
