Arsenal moves just a point behind Chelsea after the North London Derby against Tottenham Hotspur with the help of Beth Mead’s goal and a brace by Caitlin Foord.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur played their first North London Derby at The Emirates Stadium, which was a thrilling game given the rivalry between these two teams. However, an early start from the Gunners gave Beth Mead the space for a rocket opener in the first few minutes of the game.

The Spurs wanted to answer immediately with an equaliser, but Vivianne Miedema denied them twice, defending on the goal line. Arsenal started to show their dominance in the game, causing Spurs many problems, but their goalkeeper Tinja-Riikka Korpela kept them in the game, denying the Gunners plenty of times in the first half.

Caitlin Foord confirmed the Gunners’ victory with a beautiful brace that left the home crowd screaming for more during the second half.

Spurs appeared to be searching for some consolation after numerous intense challenges in the midfield when they were granted a late penalty. However, Angela Addison failed from the penalty spot, and Arsenal claimed all three points.

The Women’s Super League title will now be decided on the final day as Arsenal trail Chelsea by just one point. Arsenal plays West Ham on Sunday while Chelsea plays against Manchester United.
