Barcelona wins 7-0, as Asisat Oshoala is back in the Pichichi race.

Wednesday, January 25th, 2023, Estadi Johan Cruyff

Matchday 16 of the Finetwork Liga F, current league champions FC Barcelona hosted the newly promoted team Levante Las Planas in a Sant Joan Despi derby.

The team celebrated their Supercopa title with the supporters at their home stadium before the game. Captains Alexia Putellas and Marta Torrejon raised the first trophy of the season to the fans. With their consistent performance, the Catalan squad is well on their approach to reclaiming the Finetwork Liga F title, currently sitting atop the table with Real Madrid and Levante UD trailing behind them.

The game unfolded in classic Barcelona form, with the Catalans dominating from the first minute. In the ninth minute, Swiss international Ana Maria Crnogorcevic scored a stunning header, assisted by Swedish international Fridolina Rolfo. And this was simply the first of seven goals scored in Doris Bačić’s net. Fridolina Rolfo had a chance to score herself shortly after delivering an assist in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, the ball struck a post. Barcelona continued to dominate, hitting shot after shot at  Levante Las Planas. However, the squad couldn’t complete the final pass until the 25th minute. Claudia Pina made a long-range pass to Ana Maria Crnogorcevic, who then passed the ball to Asisat Oshoala, who made no mistake by shooting the ball into the back of the net.

Vicky Lopez’s shot off the post in the 32nd minute as the youngster looked to record her first goal of the season to become Barcelona’s youngest goalscorer at 16 years. In the 41st minute, Bačić saves Crnogorcevic’s shot, but the ball deflected into the net, giving Barcelona its third goal and Crnogorcevic’s second of the night.

Second Half Goals Galore

Starting their second half strong, Vicky Lopez scored her first goal of the season and became the Catalan team’s youngest goalscorer early in the second half.

And Vicky Lopez’s goal set off a barrage of four quick goals from Barcelona, including a brace from Asisat Oshoala in the second half to complete her hattrick and another from Mariona Caldentey in the 74th minute. Asisat Oshoala, who had struggled early in the season owing to injury, was instantly back in the race for the Pichichi after her hattrick in this game.
